Over 30 members and friends, many of whom dressed up for the occasion in red white and blue, enjoyed a celebration of the Platinum Jubilee on Saturday afternoon . They kicked off with a game of Jack Attack, organised by Pauline V. Those new to the sport had some coaching in the basics with Ken and Jan. This was followed by the Spider - all participants ring the green and on the whistle, bowl their one wood at the centrally placed jack. After much chaos and clattering, Cyril’s wood was closest and he was presented with a pot of Jubilee Jam!!

The loyal toast followed by singing the national anthem heralded the afternoon tea - smoked salmon, egg & cress, ham, cheese sandwiches, pork pies, brownies, butterfly buns, scones, strawberry tart, and celebration bakewell tarts were plated for each guest, to be followed by our own Platinum Jubilee Pudding. A time consuming preparation of 8 different components!

A quiz, organised by Pauline T was circulated - one being dingbats and the other being a Royal Quiz - Lesley and Carol were the clear winners and won a box of Jubilee Roses chocolates. There was also a prize of a box of Jubilee biscuits for the winning ticket. Our most senior member at the event Ken made the draw and the winning number pulled out was number 4 which was Ken’s ticket!.

Thanks go to Sue, Joyce and Pam who worked tirelessly preparing the food, table, flower arrangements and organising the day, also to Mary for her significant contribution to the food. All agreed it had been an excellent memorable afternoon and many thanks go to everyone who helped clear up.
