On Sunday 15th June we had a friendly game away at the Jack Hatfield Sports Club; the catering team paid for the coach from the money raised from the Sunday lunches, and Jack Hatfield gave us the green free and also provided a wonderful buffet.
Although the score ended 93 to South Cliff and 106 to Jack Hatfield a fabulous day was had by all involved at both clubs.
Captain Craig W skipped their top rink winning by 9 shots. Our top rink was Joyce, Rosie, Pauline C and Mike G who were presented with new bowls cloths and pens for their victory. All other players received pens with the club name on.
A raffle was held with generous prizes, after the raffle we said we both won about the same amount of prizes which seemed to add to the overall day .
The buffet the club members provided was extensive and varied with lots of home made sandwiches and cake, I do think the bar was a welcome addition to the day as the weather was very hot and cold drinks could be bought, many of which I do believe were not soft drinks!
There were also a lot of their club members present to watch the game and cheer everyone on adding to the experience. We look forward to next year so we can repay the hospitality when they come and play at our green.
As the Vets vice captain and member of the catering team I wish to give Jack Hatfield club and Craig a huge thank you for the wonderful day we had .
On the drive home I spoke to our team and we raised a collection for the driver from Esk Valley coaches and managed to collect £30 for him. A big thank you to Esk Valley coaches for their help and their friendly driver.
Finally I would like to thank all our players who come to play on Father’s day!
