Myself and Richard played in the Gent’s Pairs and played Mark Walton and Craig Baker at Nafferton

It was another excellent and close game, being decided on the last end.

After 5 ends we were 7-1 in front following some excellent lead bowls by Steve Lonnia. The next 5 ends were much edged by Walton and Baker with some excellent bowls from the 2005 World Bowls Champion of Champions, Mark Walton. The score after 10 ends was 10-7 to the Lonnia’s

Lonnias were 12-8 up after 13 ends but a late rally saw Walton and Baker take a 13-12 lead after 16 ends.

The 17th and 18th ends were very close the Lonnia’s scored a single to level it up with one end to play.

Then Richard Lonnia played an excellent running bowl to take out the cast bowl to leave them scoring one with Richard and Mark Walton both having two bowls left. But it proved to be the winning bowl and enough for the Lonnia’s to win 14-13 and move in to the semi finals of the Yorkshire Region.
