Following on from the success of the Yorkshire Day Pairs, it was time for a singles competition to give those who had played socially since late May the opportunity to engage in some serious one on one competitive bowling. The competition takes the form of two ladies and two gents leagues and takes place on Friday and Saturday. The semi-finals and finals will take place on Sunday. Clearly there were some significant changes required to adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines and a great deal of preparation took place ahead of the event.

The first day of 15 matches, each one operating within a time-limit of 50 minutes, saw some excellent bowling and some very close outcomes including 4 draws. In the ladies’ section Pauline T leads with a maximum from her two games and in the league 2 Pauline C and Jeanne H are tied. Things are also very close in the gents’ section with both leagues seeing players tied after two matches – Paul B & Graham W in league 3 and Vernon C and Paul H in league 4. By mid-afternoon tomorrow the semi-finalist pairings will be known.
