Ahead of next weekend’s Club Competition Finals the Men’s singles semis took place. The matches featured two players with over 30 year combined experience of bowling – Tom R & Arthur R whilst the other semi saw Tony M & Derek Gi, players with a combined experience of bowling running to less than 5 years.

Tony M started well, opening a 7 shot lead. Derek responded by taking 5 ends to be one shot adrift. Tony then opened a 10-shot lead only to see Derek claw back 6 shots. Tony then returned to winning the next two ends to run out winner and move on to next weekend’s final where he will play the very experienced Arthur R whose game against Tom saw some excellent bowling, with on one end the lead changed each wood delivered. After some 11 ends Tom held a 5 shot lead - 13-8. Arthur gradually pulled back and by the start of the 17th end the scores were level at 14 apiece. Arthur sustained his momentum moving towards the winning 21 shots after end 20.

Next Saturday afternoon sees the Ladies & Men’s Pairs finals with the singles being played on Sunday afternoon. Both start at 2:00pm
